Dear Mauro,

Thank you for your interest in our product! The GPS can usually reach a precision of around 1-2 meters in open areas, wich is usually the case when paddling (if the reciever can see 8-10 satellites). The position and speed data is updated every second. The accelerometer measurement resolution is 3.5 mg (1 g = 9.81 m/s^2), with a sample rate of 125 samples/second. During very light paddling, the peak acceleration was around 0.1 g, and around 0.35 g during maximum effort for three times olympic champion Zoltán Kammerer. Part of his training session can be automatically downloaded from our server, by selecting "Download sample sessions" from the Help menu in TechniqueStudio. This allows you to try out the software without having to buy anything. TechniqueStudio can be downloaded from the appropriate section on this site. All technical info can be found in the "Technical specifications" section of the manual, which can also be downloaded from our site.
We hope your questions are answered! If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Best regards,
DigiTrainer Team

Hi,
The instrument you have put together seems to be quite interesting. However an overall judgment and its efficiency in paddling performance analysis will become clear only if you can provide detailed information on the precision of the measurements it's capable to do.
For example we know very well the limited precision of GPS systems for releative low speed like the one of a kayak or Canoe and acceleration on the three axis are also limited if compared to the one of other sports (especially when doing endurance training) which is the base of any peak sprint performace.
Do you have a whitepare or a technical spec document which detalis those characteristics.
Last but not least question: what are the capabilities of the SW which comes with the Digitrainer?

Sorry for the long question but I hope that will help you increase the diffusion of your measuring device.
Best regards,

Dear Ronni,

Sorry for the late answer.
The acceleration of the boat is measured and recorded in all three directions (forward-backward, up-down, right-left) during paddling. The pitch and roll cannot be measured exactly without knowing the accurate position of the device on the boat, but you can see the up-down and the right-left movements of the boat. The forward acceleration is the most important component, because it shows the relative force of each stroke, the stroke length, stroke rate, etc.

does it measure the roll of the boat and the pitch of the boat while paddling, or just the speed and the acceleration?

Dear Lisa,

The sampling frequency of the boat acceleration is 125/sec for all three directions.

Dear Jack,

Thank you for your comment. DigiTrainer can be programmed to show 4 of the following parameters during training: stopwtch, clock, speed (km/h, mph, m/s), pace (per 500, 1000 or 2000m), distance (km, miles), stroke rate (strokes/minute) and heart rate. Stroke balance and other acceleration based parameters can be reviewed only on the PC. The production is in progress, we are making arrangements for world-wide distribution. You can take a look at and test DigiTrainer at the marathon world championship in Crestuma, Portugal on september 19-20. Braca-Sport will be the distributor there.
Best wishes,

DigiTrainer Team

I reviewed your advertisements ... expensive but very nice device!!!

Do I understand correctly, digitrainer:
1) measures and displays time, covered distance, speed and pace based on GPS data
2) has HRT feedback
3) evaluates and displays stroke rate and force balance (left vs. right side), and boat roll based on accelleration sensors
Can the unit be programed such as to show selected or all that feedback instantly or is some of that analysis only possible on the PC at a later time?

Is the unit meanwhile available for testing or sale, or when do you plan to have it available?

Dear Jimmy,

Thank your for your questions!
Currenly only one person's heartrate can be recorded with one DigiTrainer, but we have plans for additional devices, which can allow the recordnig of multiple heart rates.
We plan to release our product at the canoe world championships in Dartmouth. (August 13-16)
Best wishes,

DigiTrainer Team
